At Web Travel Group, the Group Infrastructure Engineering team provides the secure, scalable, and resilient technology platforms that underpin our global operations. As adoption of low‑code, automation, and AI continues to accelerate, the Power Platform Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that innovation is enabled safely, sustainably, and in line with enterprise best practices.

This role sits within the Group Infrastructure Engineering team and is responsible for owning the Microsoft Power Platform estate, balancing governance, security, and compliance with hands‑on delivery and enablement. You will work closely with Business Citizen Developers across multiple departments, ensuring their environments are aligned to business needs while remaining secure, supportable, and cost‑effective.

How will you make an impact? 

The Power Platform Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operational health, governance, and evolution of the Microsoft Power Platform across the organisation. This is a hands‑on role encompassing platform ownership, environment management, application development, AI enablement, licensing optimisation, and citizen developer support.

Working closely with Cloud Architecture, Security, and Business teams, you will ensure Power Platform is an enterprise‑grade capability that delivers real business value without introducing unmanaged risk.

Key Responsibilities: 

Power Platform Ownership & Environment Management

  • Own and manage Power Platform environments (Development, Test, Production, and departmental environments)
  • Implement and maintain environment strategies tailored to different departments and use cases
  • Ensure environments are configured according to enterprise standards for security, compliance, and supportability
  • Manage environment lifecycle, access controls, and operational readiness

 

Governance, Security & Center of Excellence

  • Design, implement, and operate the Power Platform governance framework
  • Own and manage the Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE), including the CoE Starter Kit
  • Configure and enforce:

– Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies

– Connector usage and data boundaries

– Dataverse security roles and permissions

  • Define and automate intake, approval, and solution lifecycle processes
  • Monitor platform usage, risk, and compliance posture and proactively remediate issues
  • Partner with Cloud Security and Architecture teams to support audits and security reviews

 

Citizen Developer Enablement

 

  • Act as a trusted technical partner for Business Citizen Developers across the organisation
  • Work closely with departments to ensure their Power Platform environments meet business needs while following best practices
  • Provide guidance, templates, standards, and solution patterns
  • Coach and enable makers to build sustainable solutions while avoiding anti‑patterns and technical debt
  • Balance innovation and control— enabling, not blocking, delivery

Application Development and Automation

  • Design, develop, and maintain Canvas Apps and ModelDriven Apps for Group IT and internal business use cases
  • Build and support Power Automate workflows (Cloud and Desktop where required)
  • Use Dataverse as the primary data platform, including schema design, security models, and performance considerations
  • Implement solutionbased ALM, including managed and unmanaged solutions, environment variables, and pipelines
  • Integrate Power Platform with Microsoft 365, Azure services, ITSM platforms (e.g. ServiceNow), and external APIs

AI and Intelligent Automation 

  • Design and deliver AI‑enabled Power Platform solutions, including:

– AI Builder (document processing, extraction, predictions)

– Copilot Studio and Copilot integrations

  • Ensure AI solutions comply with responsible AI, governance, and data security principles
  • Identify opportunities to remove manual or Excel‑based processes using AI and automation

Licensing, Usage & Reporting

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Power Platform licensing models
  • Monitor license consumption, capacity usage, and adoption trends
  • Produce usage statistics, insights, and reports for stakeholders and leadership
  • Advise on optimal licensing strategies, cost optimisation, and future capacity planning
  • Ensure licensing aligns with actual usage and business demand

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a point of contact for power platform-related issues and escalations.
  • Work alongside the Cloud Architect to transition new capabilities to BAU
  • Represent the Power Platform Engineering team in operational reviews

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including:

– Power Apps (Canvas & Model‑Driven)

– Power Automate

– Dataverse

– Power BI (administration and governance)

  • Proven experience implementing Power Platform governance, DLP policies, and CoE
  • Solid understanding of Dataverse security roles, environment strategy, and ALM best practices
  • Experience working with Citizen Developer communities
  • Knowledge of Power Platform licensing models and consumption monitoring
  • Experience with AI Builder and/or Copilot Studio
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex platform issues
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Nice to Have 

  • Experience operating Power Platform at enterprise or group scale
  • Azure services integration experience
  • ITSM or ServiceNow integration exposure
  • Microsoft certifications (PL‑100, PL‑200, PL‑400, PL‑600)
