Following the city’s reopening to international travellers, WebBeds teams up with the Singapore Tourism Board and five top hotels to host an online educational event for 300 travel industry professionals around the world…

WebBeds, one of the world’s largest B2B accommodation providers, has supported Singapore’s tourism recovery by hosting “The Expert’s Route to Singapore”, an important webinar aimed at educating the travel trade about the country’s reopening and showcasing the Lion City’s top hotels, attractions, activities and events.

Singapore is now welcoming fully-vaccinated international travellers, with no testing requirements or quarantine restrictions. Upon arrival, guests will discover a vibrant city where all major attractions, infrastructure and services are open, with minimum COVID-19 restrictions (such as indoor mask wearing). Visitors can rest assured that Singapore has one of the world’s highest vaccination rates, with 96% of the local population having received two vaccinations and 73% having had their booster.

To accelerate Singapore’s tourism revival, WebBeds’ exclusive online event was held on 26th April 2022, in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and five of the city’s leading hotels: Marina Bay Sands, Goodwood Park Hotel, M Social Singapore, Capri by Fraser China Square, and Oasia Resort Sentosa. Together, these forward-thinking partners addressed more than 300 attendees from all around the world, including top travel trade professionals from Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The overall aim of the webinar was to help the world rediscover everything there is to see and do in Singapore, including any new highlights that have been introduced and the planned calendar of festivals and events for 2022 and beyond. It also provided insightful updates about the country’s latest entry requirements.

Guests were welcomed by Mr. KS Sun, WebBeds’ President for Asia Pacific, before Mr. Oliver Chong, STB’s Executive Director of International Relations, Market Planning & Oceania, gave an insightful presentation entitled “Reimagine Singapore”. Two separate Q&A sessions allowed attendees to put questions to WebBeds, STB and the hotels, before WebBeds revealed a series of dedicated resources for the travel trade, including a COVID-19 travel toolkit, a safe travel page and more.

“We were delighted to support WebBeds on this important event. Singapore is now open to vaccinated travellers and we are pleased to have partners like WebBeds help us spread the word and provide the latest destination information to our travel industry colleagues. From new attractions to reimagined tours and experiences, we have a vibrant calendar of events lined up for the rest of 2022, including the inaugural Singapore Wellness Festival, Singapore Food Festival, and the much-anticipated return of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world back to our shores once again.” said Mr. Oliver Chong, Executive Director International Group Headquarters and Oceania STB.

“WebBeds has always been a strong supporter of Goodwood Park Hotel so we were excited to work with them on this webinar, which will help to stimulate Singapore’s tourism economy. At times like these, it is vital that all stakeholders work together to create a bright future for the city. We commend STB for their proactive approach in promoting the country and WebBeds for providing a platform to connect with a global audience to showcase the best of Singapore to our international clientele,” commented Ms. Ethel Gardon, Director of Sales, Goodwood Park Hotel.

“This is the second webinar hosted by WebBeds that I’ve attended. With the borders of countries rapidly opening, information can get overwhelming and confusing. I appreciate the efforts of WebBeds in organising such valuable webinars as we hear directly from the tourism boards and hotel partners on what to expect,” said Ms. Monique Hartslief, Product Manager of Pentravel in South Africa.

“Singapore has always been a popular destination amongst our guests. We’ve been receiving enquiries on the destination especially for the upcoming school holidays so it’s nice to see that a lot of the restrictions are lifted. It was also educational to learn about the different interesting hotel properties in Singapore which I can recommend to my clients,” added Mr. Hardeep Singh, an agent at Right Immigration and Travel Services in India.

“At WebBeds, our goal is to support the travel industry and drive value to all our partners. This means doing more than simply enabling bookings; it means connecting buyers and suppliers, showcasing the best of destinations and offering insights into the latest travel trends and key topics. As the world starts to open up again, we will work closely with tourism authorities like the STB, as well as our network of hotels and distribution partners, to help drive the recovery in all parts of Asia,” concluded Mr. KS Sun, President, Asia Pacific, WebBeds.

“The Expert’s Route to Singapore” formed part of WebBeds’ mission to enable global travel and encourage cross-border collaboration. This marked the second in a series of tourism reopening webinars, following the success of “The Expert’s Route to Thailand” in November 2021, which received an overwhelming response from clients and partners alike. WebBeds will continue to stimulate Asian travel, tourism and hospitality with more events in the coming months. Stay tuned for further updates!
